The department of Textiles and Shawls curates rare clothing, decorative hangings, and floor coverings crafted from fine fabrics. Collectibles include shawls, sarees, Pichwai, carpets, and rugs. With traditional weaving practices now endangered, antique textile pieces preserving these art forms are highly prized by collectors and enthusiasts.
Our collection features intricate work on luxurious fabrics, including Persian Kashan silk rugs, Kashmiri Kani Jamawar Pashmina shawls, Kurdish Bidjar wool rugs, and Rajasthani Pichwai of Shrinathji. We have also presented rare Pashmina sarees and shawls with Chinar Posh, Khatamband, Doranga, Dorukha designs, and Sozni embroidery. A Pashmina saree with Kani embroidery achieved 20,87,250 INR at auction.
